A definite 5/5. Tillie Walden's work continues more and more to impress and move me in ways that I have wanted to feel in comics and in literature for a long time. It is not just her beautiful artwork nor is it just her phenomenal writing. There's a synchronicity between these two and the emotions and characters that she portrays. It's a beautiful graphic novel that moved me and made me cry in more than a few places. It grabbed me and held me firm in my place, I could honestly barely take my eyes away from it.

On a Sunbeam is the sapphic science fiction epic romance I needed. It has a cast full of queer and I don't even believe I saw a single cis male character in the story, let alone anyone het, and I'm here for this kind of pure representation that is unapologetic and upfront with its portrayals. It covers a lot of thematic ground here, too. Not just in a Queer space, but the passage of time, emotion, changes, etc. Growing up is a theme as is in some ways, the joy of not always being an academic wiz kid. It has a lot of good messages for people of all ages, truly, and it was just a gripping narrative.

I'm honestly excited to see the next work of Tillie Walden, she is climbing the ranks of my favorite independent comic book writers or at least not with a major firm like DC or Marvel. She's a tour de force author and artist that I can tell will continue to produce just exquisite works from here on forward.
