Oh, wow. I truly don't even know where to begin with this book. At it's core, On a Sunbeam is a story about love. The book follows two timelines. One follows Mia as she goes to boarding school, as she experiences falling in love with the mysterious new girl. The other follows Mia, five years later, on a spaceship with her found family, reconstructing old buildings. Eventually, these two story lines mesh effortlessly. Not only is the plot so well-written, but the characters have depth, which sometimes lacks in graphic novels.
Furthermore, the art style is stunning. The use of color differentiates the two timelines, and later the different scenes happening to multiple characters. The art elevated the tone of the story so beautifully. The pure talent it takes to be able to both illustrate and write such a profound story is astounding. I absolutely adore every little thing about this book.
I'm a huge fan of so much in this book. From the space setting, to the dual timelines, and especially to the dynamic and loveable characters. I will always love sci-fi, I will always love long books, and I will truly always love to see myself represented in books. Can we normalize 500 page long sci-fi/fantasy queer graphic novels, please!?!
On A Sunbeam is definitely a must-read for fellow graphic novel enthusiasts. If you, like me, have been putting it off because of the length, please don't--it is so so worth it! Highly recommend it for fans of [b:The Magic Fish|42394599|The Magic Fish|Trung Le Nguyen|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1582608860l/42394599._SX50_.jpg|66072973], [b:Squad|52295479|Squad|Maggie Tokuda-Hall|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1613592358l/52295479._SY75_.jpg|73615394], and/or [b:Nimona|19351043|Nimona|N.D. Happy reading!

Incroyable ? L'univers, les personnages, le dessin, tout est incroyable. Une histoire d'amour, d'amitié, de famille choisie qui nous transporte dans une odyssée spatiale le temps de 500 pages.
