This was not a book for me. It had all the right elements though, but ended up being boring. I found the two main characters very intriguing in the opening part of the book, but they quickly become annoying and whiny. I was happy to read a romance between some more adult main characters, but my hope for a unique story disappeared when they started to behave like 13 year olds.

Besides the romantic plot line, there is some mystery about severed heads, but I couldn’t care less about that. As couldn’t our two main characters it seems. They rather swoon over the fact that one of them smelt like gingerbread. There was also something about poison, but they rather have sex in a prison cell than think about that.

I heard a lot of hype for this book. I'd categorize is as a cozy murder mystery fantasy. I found the two main characters a bit annoying in their insecurities. When I get older characters (in their thirties), I hope to find two people with more confidence. There was a lot of internal monologuing, "Does she like me?" "Does he like me?" instead of talking to each other and it felt like it took forever to get to the actual story because of this.

An easy read that flowed well.  Paladin’s Grace is a romance based in a more traditional fantasy world.  I enjoyed the mystery and intrigue, I liked the worldbuilding and am interested to see where this goes in the following books.  I’ve been looking for a sort of traditional fantasy series that flows this easily - so I enjoyed. The romance is not what I look for but it felt well-balanced and there was spice but not too much.
