DNF

I am not sure what the author was trying to do with this biography. I gave up as it was dry and seemed to have the author's thoughts too much into the writing.

Not so much a biopic on Hitchcock, but a synopsis of his films.

I began reading this book under the impression that it would be at most a biography, and at least some type of analysis of Hitchcock films. It turned out to be both, but barely.
This book was 1/4 a collection of stories about Hitchcock's life (the only interesting one being his father used to send him to the police after he did something wrong), and 3/4 loose summaries of select Hitchcock movies. Seriously, this book should've started with a warning, like maybe "WARNING: SPOILERS TO EVERY ALFRED HITCHCOCK MOVIE MAKE UP THE ENTIRETY OF THIS BOOK." After summarizing, Wood (the author) pointed out similarities between movie plots, and differences in themes. A better formed and thought-out version of this book might have been able to explore Hitchcock's psyche, but this book was written so that it leaves the reader confused about everything- Hitchcock, movies, and the purpose of the book.
