DJ is in his clubhouse feeling sorry for himself and missing his friend Gina who moved away when there is light from space and a crash. HiLo appears - a boy, no a robot from a parallel portal come to save Earth. DJ and Gina (who has just moved back) partner with HiLo to save Earth.

Solid story - fun read! Great book for second and third grade as well as older striving readers.

D.J.'s family is full of over-achievers and the only thing that D.J. has ever excelled at is being friends with his next-door neighbor, Gina. And then Gina moves away. So when HiLo literally drops out of the sky and needs a friend to introduce him to the ways of Earth, D.J. eagerly takes on the challenge. HiLo is impressed by everything (rice! milk! burping!) and is a little odd, so D.J. is reluctant to introduce HiLo to his family. Filled with literally laugh-out-loud moments, as well as surprisingly moving scenes, this book is one of my favorite graphic novel discoveries so far this year.

Fun, and exciting.

HiLo and it's sequel has been flying off the shelves in my school library so I had to see what the hype was all about. Very engaging and interesting graphic novel. Probably won't read the whole series but I am glad to see what all the hype was about.

I read this with my 2 boys (4 & 7) and we all loved it. The art is very similar to Winick's previous Barry Ween series. However, it much more appropriate for kids. We just started the second book and I can't recommend it highly enough. The language is also great for reading with a new reader. My 7-year-old was able to read most of the words by himself or with a little help. It's wonderful to read as an adult or share with a special child in your life.

"Outstanding!" I really enjoyed this sci-fi adventure. The three friends are a great group and the robot invasion is action-packed. I can see why the kids love this one.

Grades 3 and up.

Cutest juvenile graphic novel I've read in a while.

Equally heartfelt, mysterious, and adventurous. It's not the most complex thing ever written, but it's not meant to be. I feel like it's definitely on the border of appealing to only young readers, but if you're young at heart and still can enjoy a good, heartfelt children's tale you'll enjoy this one.

OUTSTANDING!!

(That's a text reference as much as an opinion. You'll understand after you read it.)

Leagan and I really enjoyed this one
