I found this second book in the series to be easier to "get in to". It was much easier to follow and there was less unessential dialogue. He'll never be Rowling, but Lippert does a fine job of giving me an escape back into the wizarding world.

I enjoyed this book much more than the first in the series. There were many more familiar faces, and the whole story had a more Potter-esque feel about it. Fascinating plotline and intriguing plot twists. This is the book which might have made me ask "are you *sure* J K Rowling didn't write this?" If not, then the true author is spell-bindingly talented.

As a Harry Potter nut I am really enjoying these stories.

Awful. I appreciate Lippert's want and effort to extend the world of HP. I even liked the first book but this one was painful to read and completely unbelievable. First these kids know way to much about their parent's teenage life. "Dad did this..." "Mom did that..." "Dad told me about this..." etc. No kid knows every detail of their parent's life when their parents were teenagers and no parent tells their kids everything they did when they were teenagers either! In addition to the kids overly knowing about their parent's teenage life there are also recurring themes... Voldemort, scar on the forehead, chamber of secrets, scary foretelling dreams, werewolf on the loose, sneaky trips to hogsmeade... all of these have been written about before and were better written by JKR herself. If I want a retelling of what happened to HP then I'll pick up my HP books and read it. I just couldn't look past these aspects of the story as well as the incredible amount of superfluous dialogue and poor side stories. All in all if you liked the first one you might like this one but it just wasn't for me.

I didn't enjoy this as much as I expected to, since I liked the first one. Maybe I was just not in the place to read it. However, I found the characters to be not engaging, the dialogue too long and pointless, and the author spent a lot of time rehashing the Harry Potter books. I understand that some reminder of the original books is necessary for a spinoff series but this was just too much. I just felt bored and it took a lot of energy to keep reading. Not sure I will be continuing.

I enjoyed this book. Got to like the Harry Potter ties. Fun. I recommend reading it you you have read all the Harry Potters. Although this is year 2. There is a James Potter book before this.

Just like the first, I couldn't finished the second. Maybe I just can't stand double L'd words to never be double L'd, maybe I didn't like the story, perhaps I just don't like the style of writing - I don't know what it is about these, I just can't dive into them.

There are only two types of people for this series - the haters and the lovers. I regret to say I'm in the former group, but hope anyone in the latter group enjoys this as much as they no doubt squealed over the first.

Furthermore, the introduction was just plain rude and off-putting, and certainly did not help when I tried to ease into the second book in hopes of some enjoyment after failing to with the first.

Engaging read -- the last few chapters are pageturners! Echoes of the original series in here, some fourth-wall-breaking, but it's all in good fun, and I appreciated most of it. Talented author, to be sure.
