The Psycho

I love a good enemies to lovers story, but this was just her being plain mean for no f*cking reason. Super f*cking annoying and repetitive. He was perfect tho.

3.5 stars.

I can’t resist a fictional stalker. Oh, someone who is obsessed with the heroine (but not in the true crime kind of way) and is full of loyalty and sweetness? Yes, please.

Adam and his friends call themselves the Soldiers of Anarchy and they run their broken-down part of town where they essentially provide vigilante justice. Adam is played up as this crazy psycho with no conscious, but I felt like some of his actions were almost like caricatures of what a psycho should act.

He meets Olivia after a run in with her friends and he is immediately captivated by her. I loved how devoted he was to her and yet he never crossed that threshold of being too stalker-y or too creepy. And while Olivia bickers and claims to want to be left alone, she seems drawn to Adam and somehow charmed by his obsession.

The pacing was done well and I thought the progression of their relationship was worthwhile. The Psycho is a bit of a slow burn, but the chemistry between them is fire. The connection between them was electric.

Some actions and descriptions were over the top and unrealistic, but overall The Psycho was a great stalker romance with an interesting storyline and plot.

Not good didn’t enjoy and didn’t like the narrators voices

I could give The Psycho five stars for Adam alone because he was the reason that I was so excited for this book and oh boy he did not disappoint whatsoever. I found myself mostly being team Adam and Liv but there were times when I wanted to stab her in the face with a fork (sorry not sorry). I absolutely loved the ending because it was the perfect way to finish Adam and Liv’s story

The only part i truly hated was the torturing part and the aftermath. Skipped many pages because of that. Overall pretty crazy and thrilling.. and ofc some pretty hard spice :)

As much as I love Shane East... the characters in this were trying WAY TOO HARD to convince you how dark and twisted they are. If you're having to tell the reader every few sentences how "feared" "unhinged" etc etc your MMC is... he is in fact none of those things because the reader wouldn't need to be told as they would see it naturally within his behaviour. 🙄 It was honestly eyeroll inducing and I just can't.
dark fast-paced

This was my first read by Nikki J Summers, but definitely not my last. I loved this dark and twisted romance. If you aren't about that type of romance, then heed Miss Summers warning in the beginning of the book.

I absolutely loved Adam and his Olivia. I loved that she wasn't afraid to stand up to him and speak her mind. In fact, that was what drew him to her. Adam never really felt emotions until Olivia and she never felt loved. Obviously there are dark components to this story, but there's so much more. You find out some pretty heartbreaking things about the main characters lives as well. But it helped shaped them into who they were meant to be. I loved their banter and their passion! Nikki did an excellent job writing their individual lives and then bringing them together.

I look forward to finding out more about the rest of the Soldiers of Anarchy. It was interested finding out how Adam ticked and I can't wait for more!!

I received an ARC for an honest review.
