No regrets...

True to Ilsa's style, she sucks you in with high emotion characters and BIG OLE' SIDE of hot sexual chemistry. Holy crap, their sexual chemistry is off the charts smokin' hot.

Both Sugar and Zac are dealing with their demons; insecurities from their past. And, of course, it ends up blowing up in their faces.

I love Zac's character because, even though he is grade-a alpha hockey jock, he is dealing with crippling anxiety. He is beautifully broken and that is what makes him all that more perfect.

Sugar's ex-boyfriend dealt her the raw deal of infidelity, making her self-conscious of her place of importance with Zac. She tries to tell herself that "no importance" is what she REALLY wants, but she is constantly proven that she is wrong.

I love Sugar and Zac's story. It has just the right touch of angst to be a page-turning catalyst in this book.

I enjoyed the quirkiness of the characters and the fun banter between the friends. I also enjoyed the development on our male lead's part. What I did not enjoy was the reluctance from our female lead. Truthfully, the main reason she was upset was for circumstances she couldn't control. The author's choice to draw a wedge between them with this particular conflict didn't sit well with me. I struggled with understand the main lead's point of view in regards to feeling betrayed or misled. Overall, it was fine. It had a few enjoyable parts and was a quick read. I'll try something else by Ilsa Madden-Mills because I did enjoy the quality of her writing.

Loved this book! Zack is the hot, hockey player with the reputation. Sugar, is beautiful, smart, and determined to get what she wants. When Zack and Sugar finally come face to face, there's a pull between these two. These two agree to help each other out and while they enjoy some benefits. However, Zack decides he wants it to be real and is determined to make Sugar his. Zack and Sugar take you on wild, pulls at the heart-strings, adventurous journey. You won't be able to not fall in love with Zack. Definitely worth the read, this is a fantastic story!!

Love

Second book I’ve read by here. And I’m in love. Love her characters. I love how the girls are smart and sassy and how the guys have tough exteriors and aren’t hard asses.

Dnf @15% the fmc is insufferable and some things she said made me roll my eyes.

Sugar represented us Southern girls just right;) WOW how swoon worthy is Z? Loved this book😍😍

Fuck. Me. Up! I fucking love Ilsa, so I was stoked to hear that she had a new book coming out. And god damn it all, I could not stop reading this one.

I was so hooked from beginning to end, even reading secretly while I was at work because I couldn’t stand not knowing what was going to happen next. The sex scenes were constant and awesome and hot as fuck, the characters were funny and cocky and big hearted.

My only complaint: Sugar running away all the fucking time! This happens in a lot of books and it just drives me insane. None of these bitches want to listen to reason and when they finally do, they give in extra easily. But, that’s how romance novels go and you bet your sweet ass I accepted that shit a long time ago. Ilsa, you go girl ✊🏼 Super Dicks unite 🍆

What the heck, Ilsa?

The storytelling is good as always but the story...

Hated the dead ex angle.
Hated the resemblance.
Hated that there was no groveling.
Hated that H's feelings for his dead ex was made to be a big deal at the start and then downplayed at the end like "oh no I didn't really love her all that much it was just blah blah blah".
And worst of all, I hated that in the end they made it seem like the h was to blame that they had to break up and go through that heartache. WTF?

Zack was promising in the beginning but he turned into the kind of H that I hate. He just let Sugar go when she found out about the resemblance. He put hockey first instead of apologizing and trying to win her back. He even ignored her the first few times they saw each other after the breakup. He waited until after the National Championship to actually apologize, beg another chance, and promise to do better. He said he lied on the letters he wrote to his dead ex where he kept saying "I love you forever". He's full of excuses!!! And while apologizing he was like "I needed you but you left me" like it was not a big deal that Sugar's heart got broken first because he lied (by omission, but it was still a lie). And Sugar, the supposedly-brainy-beacuse-she's-pre-law idiot, was like "I should have given him a chance to explain". Wow. Just wow. I'm so mad because I had a similar experience, the only difference is in my situation the ex is still alive.

Story sucked. Don't recommend.
