Loved the story and the narrator. The music in parts of the audiobook was very distracting.

Clever! I don't read many mysteries or who-done-its and though this is not exactly one of those books, it had an unexpected mystery factor to it. I did not see the end of the story coming - how the past was resolved in the past. Nice.

I bought this on Audible years ago, and must have listened to it back then, but when I came across it in my library I couldn't remember listening to it at all. I listened to it again last week, and while I enjoyed it, and it passed the time pleasantly, I think in another week or so I will no longer remember the plot. Lightweight reading, fair to middling plot.

Overall a quick, fun read...I really couldn't relate to the main character at all but she entertained me for the most part. A nice little twist in the plot at the end helped.

The way this book lives rent free in my head. From what it has in its pockets to the chickens to the kudzu, this book is part of my origin story as a writer.

Really great read. Unpredictable is perfectly descriptive of this book. I had a little bit of difficulty getting into it at first but I think it was because I had a lot going on, not necessarily due to the writing. I really enjoyed this read right up through the end. It felt a bit reminiscent of Sarah Addison Allen, whose writing I savor. A compelling story with characters that have quirks but that feel genuine.

The writing was all over the place. At first read, the story revolves around a major lie about a "murder", but what the story truly revolves around is family. The main character Arlene was witty at times but confusing and annoying most often. My interest was only really maintained when Arlene ' s aunt Flo was in the picture. She reminded me of the chsracter, Ouiser, in Steel Magnolias played by Shirley MacLaine. This book had so much potential but it came across as a first draft.

I read this in less than 24 hours.. really good!
