I read this book and it was incredible.

Cora continues her journey on the Grand Tour in Europe along with her siblings. During this beautiful trip, she learns how to win the heart of her relatives and she also finds out that she loves Will, the young tour guide. In the second book of this beautiful Grand Tour series, the author analyze more deep Cora's choices and her character. Cora learns how to be more mature and how to become more stronger. She has to choose between Will, a poor tour guide and Pierre a rich, handsome French man. During this beautiful tour, Cora and her siblings will encounter many dangers. A mysterious man, named Art will join the group and the kidnappers from the first book, will not cease to pursue them.

I love the way, the characters evolved during the story, how they could see clear in their mind what they truly are and want. This book is a journey through the beautiful cities of Europe and also a journey of hearts. You will forget that you read because you will be transported right in the middle of this beautiful story. The words of this book are like vivid image. This novel is amazing.

I received this book through NetGalley. I want to thank to the author Lisa Tawn Bergren, to the publisher and to NetGalley because they give me the opportunity to read this amazing book.

This book drew my emotions through the wringer. So often I felt the pain and betrayel as though I really was Cora. You know an author is amazing when the reader feels personally involved in the story. So many times I wanted to jump inside the book and help Cora wade through the backstabing, manipulation, and confusion.

And the romance! So sweet and yet heartbreaking. To know that you love one man while everyone tells you that you are never meant to be. Then for them to thrust a Prince Charming at you instead. Sometimes I think I far more upset about it than Cora was.

I can not wait for the next book (coming out in October) in order to exsperience more of Cora's adventures.

I really like Lisa Bergren's writing style! This is book #2 in the 3 book series and follows the group to France and Austria! New revelations are made about who is behind the killing and attempted kidnapping of the children and Cora FINALLY reaches a point of self-discovery.

Now I'm going to have to wait until next year for the final book in the trilogy...

I immediately dove into book two in the Grand Tour series, Grave Consequences.  Taking place immediately following the first novel, Grave Consequences, it promised to be an exciting continuation to the action-packed ending of Glamorous Illusions.  With that in mind (and the book loaded up on my Nook), I started right in.

Grave Consequences begins with Cora and her family continuing their tour, making stops in Austria, France, and Italy.  All seems well, until Cora realizes that she is being followed.  What's more, she must not only protect her physical safety, but her emotional safety as well, as a mysterious Frenchman makes a bold move to claim Cora's heart.  Will she be able to escape her past and move forward as a new woman?  What will she make of all the claims laid on her heart?

I LOVE books with angst.  I can't get enough of it!  I love when I stress out about a book, because it makes me realize how utterly connected I've become with the book and the characters.  When you can't breathe because you're so worried about what will happen to the characters, then you know you're really in the thick of the story.  And that is exactly what happened with me and this book.  I felt like I was right there with Cora, Pierre, and Will as their love triangle exploded.  The whole kidnapping plot line afforded the novel an opportunity to become a rapid page turner.  What started out as a small ending plot to Glamorous Illusions turns into a full-blown mystery in Grave Consequences.  The kidnapping helped move the growing relationships between characters in a unique and creative way.  I really like how Bergren writes from both Will and Cora's points of view.  The duality of the narrative flows surprisingly well as you get multiple perspectives on what's truly happening.  Will all of this being said, it's no surprise that I'm eagerly awaiting book three in the series, Glittering Promises, due out October 1st.

I read the first book and while it wasn't a favorite I did enjoy the scene descriptions and historical aspects. I will preface the rest of my review with this: I do not enjoy romances or 'chick flick' books and this is both, with some suspense, mystery, some humor and historical fiction in the mix. Reading the first book will give background info that will help some with this second book in the Grand Tour srries. I do think you could read it without having read the first but you may be confused at points.
It has been awhile since I read the first so some of the relationships between characters I had to relearn. Basically the young adults of the rich Kensington and Morgan families are taking their Grand Tour of Europe. This was quite customary for the wealthy in the 19th and early 20th century (and earlier). The group is accompanied by a 'bear' -their guide and protector on the trip. He plots the tour, secures lodging with influential families throughout the regions they visit and gives lectures and instigates thought provoking experiences as they travel. In these books the bear is accompanied by his nephew, Will.
One important rule as bear and bear-in-training, is to not become involved emotionally with the members of the group. Of course that is exactly what happens. It began in the first book and reaches its climax in this one.
There is death, conspiracy, lies, deceit, betrayal, and love (fortunately it's mild or I would not have been able to finish the book!), as well as much history.
I will say that I didn't particularly care for the 'soap opera' feel of it. There were also a few things with the writing style that kept catching me up. A phrase or description used too often or too close together. Another was when Will is dismissed as bear and Pierre takes over, in a sense, but he talks the same way as Will. In my mind his voice is Will's and not Pierre's because she (the author) did not continue with his (Pierre's) usual manner.
And finally, although the book is "Christian" (how loosely that is used nowadays!), I didn't feel much truly was Christian about it or the characters. I felt it somewhat more in the first book. The two main characters are constantly praying to God to show them or tell them what to do but then they do their own thing- and go back to asking the same thing!
I will leave this review on a positive note: the descriptions of the historical aspects were very well done. I could picture in my mind how the places looked, how the clothing fit, and somewhat the culture of the time. I enjoyed the history lessons, first beacuse they were history, but also we get a glimpse of the impact on those who get to be in the place where it happened.
I would give it 3 1/2 stars.

ugh. I can't stand dictatorial characters. The main character's father was just awful. Ruined the book for me. I was enjoying it up until that point.

Lisa Bergren was an author I had never read before, but I was pleasantly surprised when I began the first book of the Grand Tour series. She is an excellent author and her background in editing have helped her craft marvellous worlds around her characters. The many faces I met throughout the first two books of the Grand Tour series did not seem to melt together or become too many, but each were well-developed and different from one another. Bergren focuses mainly on Cora and Will, and their forbidden relationship as a new socialite and a bear-in-training. I really enjoyed this relationship, as it is one I have never seen explored in fiction before. Bergren's settings throughout Europe as the Kensington's and Morgan's travel on their tour was also beautifully described, making the reader feel as if they were truly there. A beautiful book by Bergren. I've already ordered the third in the series so I can finish the Grand Tour alongside Cora!
