I did not finish this lol. This is my first DNF. I really wanted to finish this cause it's the last one (of Franks) but dude it's just sex witches. Like, stop at either 1 or if you're really feeling it after 4. I'm going to go read something written in this millennia now.
mysterious reflective tense slow-paced

Don't waste your time. My recommendation is to read the first four Dune books and imagine nothing happens after that. The last couple of books are terrible.

Lots of characters discussing things, not a lot of stuff going on. At least not till the last 100 pages or so.

Finally finished and I can rest. I just don't know. It's extremely long-winded. Lots of things don't happen for a long, long time, and then it all happens. The premise built on in the last book is fine, but Herbert doesn't do anything with it for too long, instead just droning on and basically just adding lore to the universe. Then all of a sudden the climax is forced onto you and you're done. Also the epilogue. I get the symbolistic side of it but as a plot point... Wtf. I have read what happens in the next two books and there's no way I'm continuing that plot.

I also just lost a war of attrition with his writing style I think. Too much convolution, making whole paragraphs out of irrelevant minutae, and specifically avoiding writing about critical moments.

Was a fun ride but I'm glad I'm finished. Now to something nice and easy... Oh wait nevermind it's The Iliad.
