Really fast read. Enjoyed the mystery that Father John O’Malley got himself entangled with. He finds a body on a snow covered deserted road at night. When the authorities go to investigate, the body is no longer there. The story takes place on an Arapahoe reservation. Interesting story and not too far-fetched. Drug cartel finds ways to make its way onto the rez and begin making fentanyl. There is a possibility that the recreation center proposed by the Z Group is really a front for a future casino. This means that the Jesuit mission will be torn down and Father John out of a job.

This book left me wondering until the very end. I never would have guessed that ending and the characters continue to develop. I can't wait to read the next book.

Good again--better crafted. It's about the temptation of jobs & casinos v. the old traditions. The appearance of a drug lab on the reservation complicates things, and the apparent closing of the mission (& dissolution of Father John's reason for being) make it imperative for him to find some friends.

I enjoy this series and will continue to read the rest. The characters of Fr. O'Malley and Vicky, the Wind River setting, and the Arapaho culture are fascinating.

When I started this one, I was surprised at some of the changes since the previous book. I felt like I had skipped a book, but this was listed as book 2.

Lots of coincidences, but the characters are strong and their motivations feel real.
