Everyone who knows me knows that I hate unnecessary sequels, and this trilogy certainly falls within that category. However, while I was reading this book I got genuinely hype every time a character from Septimus Heap showed up, so I actually enjoyed the experience for once. I think that says more about my love for the original series than it does about the quality of this sequel trilogy, because I don't care very much about the new characters or plotline introduced, but still, probably one of the better unnecessary sequels I've read.

This was such an amazing read to listen to on audio.

Fort a moment I was not sure if I wanted to continue to listen as this series too is situated in the same world as Septimus Heap, and I have that series yet to finish.

However, I decided to go ahead and found an amazing story that I loved from beginning to end.

After reading the first serie of Septimus Heap I was thrilled to find out there is another - smaller - serie.
So far, again, totally in love. I will probably say at the end of this serie it’s too short and we want more.
I’m reading this serie from my e-reader by the way, I’m actually a nerd for paperbacks, but this serie isn’t available for purchase or in the collection of my local library.

This is a great kid adventure. Plenty of solid lessons about empathy vs bigotry, duty, and working patiently with people from different cultures and species. Positive representation of sign language. Good mix of male and female characters who experience marked growth over the course of the story. The universe is dense enough to make me want to read more. Will share this with the kid.
