It's a shame that now that we have such a wide range of godborns and their abilities, the series is ended. We were finally getting somewhere good, but even then the weakness of the story shows their annoying cracks in an otherwise perfectly good casita (that being one of em; jeez, why does the author code-switch so. damn. much!).

Over the summer I reviewed the first two books in this series, Summer Series: Maya vs. Aztec Gods. This is the "series conclusion," although there's a set-up, at the end, for subsequent books, very similar to Rick Riordan's Greek / Roman mythology-based books. So this may not be the end of this series, at all, if it sells well.

Zane Obispo, son of Mayan god Huracan, once again finds himself and the 65 godborns he's rounded up and recruited under attack by demons led by Ixkik' and her twin sons, Jordan and Bird.

But while Zane and crew know the attack's coming, they don't know what Ixkik' is hoping to accomplish, and in this book, they're five steps behind, the whole way.

When the gods, all the gods, are stolen by "the devourer" and disappear, leaving only one to guard the godborns, Zane and friends go after the means to free their parents, even if their parents were jerks and abandoned them all.

And of course, in the end, it's all up to Zane to save the day.

I won't reveal the plot / story twists and turns, just know it's a fun read, and my teen son enjoyed the entire series immensely!

there were so many new characters and so many plotlines and sideplotlines that i got v confused, and i wish the actual quest started a bit earlier, but i still really enjoyed the mythology and also MAGIC SCHOOL IN TREE HOUSES (which should have featured earlier in the series tbh)
