I felt like at times the book really did take its time but the climax is really when things started to pick up even though there were parts before that that I liked

I felt like nothing happened in this book until the last 50-100 pages, and by that time I had a hard time caring at all about what actually did happen! Disappointing, since with the Order of the Phoenix I was actually starting to get into the series and was feeling like I finally understood the hype around these books.

I've read this before many times and I just read it again after coming across it in the library shelves of ACCENT where I am taking study abroad classes in France and inhaled it once again as though I hadn't read it a bunch of times already, making it the sole diversion of a train ride to Germany. But someone has checked out the Deathly Hallows, which ACCENT also has, and I'm going crazy waiting for them to turn it back in!

This will always be my favorite of the Harry Potter books. The deep dive into Tom Riddle's history, the revelation about the horcruxes, the cracks that form in Draco's arrogant facade. Even the way this one ends - so tragic, yet so strong. This book is wonderful and never felt like it had all the unnecessary extras of the previous two (looking at you SPEW). I will never not love The Half-Blood Prince.

The storyline, Tom Riddle's backstory, Dumbledore's death and the reveal of Snape at the end, I can DEFINITELY say I absolutely love this book. The way this left such a suspense I had to pick up the last book immediately is insane, J.K. Rowling did a phenomenal job with this book's writing.
