Wow! I loved this book so much.
A book about a young woman who is so unhappy with her life she decides she does not want to live. She is then given the option to change past things she has regretted to venture into different lives.
What I liked about this book:
- Writing
- Very interesting
- Main character and the Librarian
- Twists and turns of the story
- Lessons learnt by the main character
- This story really made me reflect on life and what it is to live a life
What I didn't like about the book
- At the start I thought the book was going to be really repetitive but it wasn't
- I also had this heavy dread it was going to be super predictable but that also wasn't the case.

Quite an interesting story and well written. The end however is, even though I hesitated at one point, way way to predictable. Also not a fan on how the book turns into some kind of self-help book preaching its message loud and clear.
Couldn't put down and wished my train was delayed so I could read more!

Dort repräsentiert jedes Buch ein anderes Leben, das sie hätte führen können, wenn sie gewisse Entscheidungen - grosse oder kleine - anders getroffen hätte. Mithilfe der Bibliothekarin hat Nora die Möglichkeit in die verschiedenen Versionen ihres Lebens einzutauchen und so hoffentlich eines zu finden, das ihr gefällt.

Ich wollte Matt Haigs Bestseller schon eine Weile lesen, war mir aber nie ganz sicher, ob das Buch wirklich meinen Geschmack trifft. Die Idee finde ich sehr spannend, tatsächlich konnte mich die Umsetzung aber nicht ganz überzeugen. So werden einige Lebensversionen, welche Nora erkundet, sehr lange und genau beschrieben, während vor allem gegen Ende dann viel auf sehr wenigen Seiten geschieht und so manches eher übersprungen als erzählt wird. Auch die vielen Hinweise auf diverse Philosophen und die Quantenphysik empfand ich zwar teilweise als interessant, oft aber auch als der etwas zu krampfhafte Versuch eine Logik in die Geschichte einzubauen. So wurde ich immer mal wieder aus der Geschichte herausgerissen. Für mich ist es ein "feel good"-Buch, bei dem doch relativ schnell klar ist, wie das Ende aussehen wird. Das ist vollkommen in Ordnung, einfach nicht mein Lieblingsgenre.

I could sense the makings of a parable stewing after the first few pages of this book, which made me cringe a little. It felt like a big wagging finger saying, “This train wreck is how people live, but I’m going to show you how living right will fix it all up with a nice whipped cream-covered bow.” Blarg.
Fortunately, the book takes thoughtful avenues, and Haig deals with all the shadows of suicide as if handling porcelain. The story is triggering at times, and rife with philosophy, and a nice breath of fresh air and magic to lift the spirits of a troubled age. It might be predictable and airy, and maybe a little too simplistic in its solutions, but it made me feel good. And there’s precious little of that going around these days.

i’ve been living my life thinking of all the wasted opportunities i’ve had throughout my life and this book taught me that they’re not wasted! I still DO have the potential and in other lives, there are the me who became a vet, movie director, writer, singer, and other ridiculous stuff i wanted to be in the past. but the life i have now is the best one no matter what because IT’S FUCKING MINE

The idea behind this book definitely resonates with me and the multi-verse/library theory is interesting, but the delivery of the entire book fell a bit flat and was even mildly disinteresting at times.
