Such an important book and an important topic. However, the execution was flawed and didn’t always work for me. Disappointing as I was so hopeful for the powerful potential of a YA novel taking on fascism and racism in America.

This is a must-read for everyone. The way the story flows and tells a gripping tale of discrimination in present-day America is not only necessary but is needed. Please read this book.

The quality of the audiobook really made this for me! The concept of the book is horrifying, and it's made worse by the fact that it is fully plausible. All the pieces parts, precedent and prejudice alike, are there to see something like this truly happen. A lot of the things I disliked about Layla's choices can mostly be excused by desperation. However, I still disliked some of the things that happened towards the end.
