I read the first book in this series not long after it came out and absolutely loved it. I was so excited for this book and the first book actually got me into cowboy romances. So when I started this book, I spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out why I loved the first one so much. This book was fine. It wasn’t amazing but it was fine! There was a scene that lingered a little too long on attempts at a Matthew McConaughey impression that I found really cringe and had a moment where I considered DNFing. She spent a fair amount of time talking about the FMC not being like “other girls” and not liking Taylor Swift, while it was apart of the development and growth of the FMC it felt like the author was dragging it out. A huge saving grace for me was that the MMC and FMC had an open and honest conversation about sex. It was refreshing to see them talk about how antidepressants may impact sex drive and bodily functions, instead of having the characters dive head first into getting it on. The lack of a third act breakup was also so nice. Overall, I enjoyed the book and will probably continue the series.

A speedy read, I love the world of Rebel Blue and how supportive everyone is. Still plenty of spice, but I liked it better than the first one. I appreciate there wasn’t really a third act breakup.

This was an incredibly sweet read that reminded me a lot of Elsie Silver's Chestnut Springs. I loved the found family and the fact that Wes only encouraged Ada to follow her dreams--he never held her back and didn't let her go. The end seemed to drag a bit and I'm still don't fully understand Ada's reason for running away, but perhaps it boils down to the trauma of her past relationship makes her do things that don't totally make sense to people who haven't endured those traumas.

Another quick read! I liked it. I think the setting really is what makes these books so enjoyable for me. I do wish that Wes’s
depression wasn’t just an afterthought. Like maybe the third act trial they went through should have been him having an episode and Ada helping him overcome it.
