Love a good cowboy romance. Lyla Sage perfected the formula like Elsie Silver and love the family she’s following in the books. All the characters feel a little more real than in other romances. She always touches on the mental health portion of her characters which makes them feel more authentic.

Ada Hart is an introverted city girl, working her way back from rock bottom after leaving her grad program in interior design and escaping a toxic marriage. Her design-focused social media channels are starting to take off when she gets an inquiry for a job in Meadowlark, Wyoming, renovating a soon-to-be guest house at Rebel Blue Ranch. On her first night in town, she impulsively kisses a local cowboy at the dive bar, before bolting, not sure what came over her. When she arrives at the job site the next day, she’s horrified to learn that said cowboy is her new boss. Weston Ryder (older brother of Emmy from Done and Dusted) is similarly introverted and can’t believe he was so bold at the bar. But now he’s determined to keep things professional… except he can’t stop thinking about Ada.

This was so cute and even better than the first book. Ada has a rough past and never wants to be a burden and Wes suffers from anxiety, so the two of them learning to trust each other was a sweet, slow burn. I loved the storyline of Wes—the oft overlooked middle child—getting to prove himself with the guest house project at his family’s ranch, and how the women of Meadowlark (longtime close friends) took Ada under their wing so easily. As a new girl in town, taken in by a close group of friends, it made me smile. (Shout out to my book club <3).
