The Killing Code is like the American version of the Rose Code but also add murder!
It was really interesting to learn a little about the WWII code breaking teams that were in America instead of reading another story set at Bletchley in England; I really knew nothing about the American women working to break Japanese code. In addition to the code breaking, our main characters are also working on solving the mystery of a serial killer who is targeting girls who work for the government.
I felt like this book couldn’t really decide if it was a book about the code breaking or a murder mystery book, but I found both story lines interesting!

I enjoyed this one! It's a good paced young adult historical fiction mystery! I did figure out who the bad guy was early on but it didn't take away from the building suspense and there were other surprising twists along the way! I loved the code breaking and how the girls broke Codes. A Lot of research went into it and it showed! It's a unique story and definitely entertaining! Tbr and Beyond Tours for sharing this book with me!

Really, really enjoyed this. We live FF romance!! Especially when it's steeped with history and parallel factoids to bolster the plot! Also loved its "girls can do anything" vibe. Empowering and satisfying, right until the very end.

I received a finished copy of this book from Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, through TBR and Beyond Tours in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
Trigger warnings: violence, murder, blood, kidnapping, misogyny, racism
THE KILLING CODE follows Kit Sutherland, a young woman working as a code breaker at a former girls’ college to help soldiers fighting abroad during World War II. However, when she discovers government girls are being murdered, Kit joins forces with other female code breakers to unmask the killer. But his identity isn’t the only thing that’s secret.
I haven’t read a historical fiction thriller in a while so I was really excited to dive into this book. It was definitely not what I expected completely, specially the introduction into the story, but I ended up enjoying it! I liked how the mystery mixed with the setting while also adding some great romance elements. However, I did end up catching onto the killer early, which literally never happens, making the ending a little less exciting. Would recommend for fans of historical fiction and for people who are interested in queer romance!

I loved reading a book so female forward. I had a moment where I put the book down and thought about how refreshing it was to have so many female prespectives.
