Well.... First the good: It was compulsively readable. I flew through it, wanting to see what these terrible people would do next.
Like another reviewer alluded to, it was like if Elin Hilderbrand wrote a Real Housewives version of her usual. Unfortunately I don't care for Hilderbrand or for Real Housewives so this just wasn't for me.
I found the writing style to be very annoying and repetitive. I get it - this person is 42 years old, as you mentioned at least 7 times in 250 pages! This woman is super pretty and blonde, and this other lady is super pretty and Brunette! But even with all the repetition I had a hard time keeping track of who was who and who was married to who and it seemed like the author really wanted me to know the layout of the town and I just couldn't be bothered.
The dialogue was bad - there's literally a guy who works in finance who can only speak in finance jargon. At one point he is breaking up a fight by saying "“Ladies, ladies, let’s all calm down. No one’s going to come out of this making the winning investment." So lame.
Worst of all was the ending. I just didn't buy that anyone would act the way they did.
As that one annoying finance bro character might say, I wouldn't buy this book's stock, or something.

Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this. I liked how the chapters were told from almost everyone's POV at some point and the gossip was quite entertaining. Good "beach" (I never read this at the beach lol but if you are looking for a beach read, I would totally recommend this) read
