Oh my goodness!! This story was everything! I loved every hot, steamy, tender, sweet, heart wrenching, and tearful moment. Gah!! So good!
4 stars
I haven't read a Karina Halle book in some time. And now I can't remember why. She's freakin' amazing. This book started out funny and witty with lots of charm and ended with a roller coaster of emotions. I didn't realize that this particular story was going to get this heavy, but I'm glad it showed the array of emotions. I freaking CRIED during a particular scene. That's rare for me. Of course it had some nice sexy scenes but they never felt like she was just inserting them (pun intended) to meet an erotic quota. If you haven't read this book, just do it. I promise you'll be thoroughly entertained.

Wow, I didn't think I was going to love Lachlan as much as Bram. Wow, was I completely wrong! Bram is easily my favorite trailed right behind is Bram. Honestly, it wasn't that hard to fall in love with Lachlan to be honest. I knew going in Kayla's story was going to be interesting ever since she was introduced. I can't get over how much I loved their story plus, can't forget Scotland! The way it was described, it just sounds gorgeous!! By like 87% I got frustrated because I knew something was going to happen and I shed several big tears. I completely fell head over heels for Kayla and Lachlan's story. Enough said. ;)
I don't know if it's because I'm pregnant. But this book made me bawl my eyes out.
I think Lachlan is my favorite McGregor so far. This was also my favorite book of the series so far. Kayla was one of my least favorite characters in the series, until she had the spotlight. The chemistry between these two, was so electric. I loved every minute of it.
I feel like this book had a lot more sexy times than her previous books as well. Which also had a hand in me liking it more.
Between the brooding, all the puppies, the tons of sexy times, and finally reading about the family in Scotland. I couldn't put this one down.
Now on to the next!

Halle has done it again. Lachlan and Kayla are my new favorite couple (aside from Dex and Perry, of course). The connection between the two is deep and beautifully written. The idea of two semi-outcasts finding one another is not new, but their journey is a absolutely unique. Absolutely loved this book.
I loved this book from the tough, emotion-provoking prologue, to the last sentence, on the last page. Lachlan and Kayla's story was much more than your average contemporary read. It was deep, emotional and steamy with such an engaging story. When I read the blurb, Scottish rugby player in San Fran, I just thought, sign me up but it far exceeded my expectations, even with the love I have for a number of Karina Halle's books.
Lachlan is a quiet hulk of a man, visiting his cousins in San Francisco whilst a tendon injury heals. Kayla notices him immediately and can't help be transfixed by him, his size, his looks, his silence. Kayla manages the impossible through an interview, she draws him out little by little, from monosyllabic to dialogue. Lachlan only has a few weeks before his return to his rugby team in Edinburgh and they slowly develop a connection. Kayla's inner dialogue and her quips during their early connection, made me laugh numerous times.
"I'm a smitten f*****g kitten. And I'm starting to think it's more than just in a physical way."
There is nothing cliche about this book, Lachlan's past and his and Kayla's relationship. This read felt fresh and real. This is the best of Karina Halle's contemporary books in my opinion. She has shown her talent in writing a book that packs the most emotional of punches but light and funny in other moments. The Play is now on my 'Favourites 2015' shelf and I am buying this to be signed by Karina Halle in Edinburgh next year, how wonderfully appropriate.

The writing was very juvenile at times, the storyline became predictable more times than not. The only thing I truly loved about this book is the Pit Bull awareness that was found within the story, and in the authors acknowledgements after.
I was going to say that Karina Halle's books are getting boring, but...
I admit it, I cried! I liked this story, okay? It's different from the first two books. Also, what does "The Play" even mean? Huh.
Okay, I'm sorry this reviewer super duper short but I have exams tomorrow so...yeah.
