I was going in hoping this story could change my opinion I had from reading The Wall of Winnapeg and me and I was so happy to say it did. I am so happy to be able to read this early. I loved this story. Aurora was a great lead female character. She was strong and independent and stood her ground when she needed too. I was also so happy with Rhodes and how he was as a character. He was broody but not an ass. Which is what I found in another one of her books. I was super happy that this stories slow burn wasn't to slow and was done so well. This book helped me see why so many readers love her slow burns. The idea of family and how families can look different and come about in different ways was such a highlight but also the importance of consistency when being in and building relationships. I highly recommend giving this a read and enjoy the growth the characters have and the romance that blooms between our two main leads!

okay i might have a new favorite author. the way these stories are written are literally perfect. i haven’t ever liked a book that included kids yet somehow mariana zapata made me absolutely love amos and how much his dad loved and protected him and his relationship with aurora and how good of friends they became. i have never been one to like slow burns yet the three i’ve read so far have been some of my favorite romance books i’ve ever read. they just include so much detail and backstory and focus so much of the building of the relationship instead of jumping into it and then leaving u with a story you have read 15 times before. there is never a time you feel like how in the hell did the get from strangers to having fallen crazy in love because you read every little thing that made their relationship get to that point. i loved rhodes and how he wasn’t the typical grump character he was just quiet and reserved and protective of his kid and that protective father in him came out when it came to aurora as well. i loved aurora and how she was trying to make a new life for herself and do the things her mom loved so that she could feel closer to her. i loved that she wasn’t afraid to be on her own and learn who she was by herself. but i especially loved that she didn’t shy away from building relationships to prove that she could do it on her own. she reconnected with an old friend that she sort of kept in touch with throughout the years. she got a job that she knew nothing about but wasn’t afraid to fail she just kept trying to learn and kept asking questions. she was funny and energetic and stubborn and i just loved her character so much. the relationship between her and amos and rhodes was so sweet and pure and just felt so natural. i kept seeing reviews that made me nervous about reading mariana zapatas books because some people say like nothing happens until the last 50 pages or whatever but that is just people who are only there for instant gratification of seeing the two get together bc so much happens if you’re there for the story and not necessarily just reading to see them immediately start dating. in my opinion id rather read and be fully invested in how their relationship builds and know they’re solid and can imagine what happens after the book ends than not really believe anything abt their foundation as a couple and then jsut read about their relationship moving forward. do yourself a favor and read this book. i can’t wait to read more from mariana zapata she is genuinely so incredible
