I love this book so much. An all-time favourite that’s a blend of romance and women’s fiction.

Rhodes is amazing and, of all MZ’s heroes, I find he strikes the best balance between grumpy and loving. Even without his POV (although I would give anything for even a chapter or two from his perspective) it was clear how much he loved Aurora. I also loved his relationship with his son

I would love to read more stories from these characters and I feel there were a few setups for new stories peppered in with Clara (I would really love this), Yuki, and Amos. I was honestly surprised when When Gracie Met the Grump came out because I was so sure the next book would be one of theirs 🤷🏻‍♀️

This isn’t a contemporary romance book, but it is - it feels more like a book about life. About coming to the middle of your life, confronting grief, rediscovering who you are, but all with sprinkles of romance throughout. The most loving parts of the book were when the romance and grief intersect.

I have my critiques with this book, like how it felt like a queer plotline for straight people. The angst felt lackluster.

But I enjoyed this, the pros outweighed the cons.

I would like to add just some quotes from this book that i loved.
“You know, you keep on being nice to me, and I’m going to think you like me.”
That big body stopped right where he was and one gray eye was on me over his shoulder as he asked in that rough, serious voice, “Who says I don’t like you?”
Excuse me?
Did he just say…?

His back couldn’t have been any straighter, and I was pretty sure his expression couldn’t have been any grimmer. “Who did that to you?” he asked in a slow, slow voice.
“No one,” I tried to explain again.
Because he had to be right. Grief was the final way we had to tell our loved ones that they’d impacted our lives. That we missed them so, so much.
