If you like a light thriller and interesting plot twists, without too much of tension this book will be perfect for you.

A story that follows an abusive marriage with twists and turns throughout the narrative, with themes of adultery, cunning, and domestic abuse. The story is entertaining for sure, but after a while the twists become a bit repetitive. The characters are pretty boring. It’s not fresh or new in any way. A good one-time read. On Audible, Julia Whelan narrates clearly but again, pretty monotonously.

I am about the last person on goodreads to read this book so I really have nothing new to add. This is a thriller full of lots of twists and turns about Vanessa, a divorcee living in NYC who is overly concerned with the woman who has replaced her in her ex's life.

Had to DNF this one…listening to it and it sounded so repetitive. May revisit but probably not

had all the parts to make it great but just didn’t read well… idk i just was bored except for like the last 80 pages and like even then when it was “exciting” i still didn’t really care… like the end of part one was really shocking for me bc i was really searching for a twist but that wasn’t one i had thought of so that really impressed me but like… the “big twist” wasn’t a twist at all. Vanessa was saying one thing and that was the truth… also i felt like the stuff in the epilogue was interesting but not necessary it just felt like it needed one more thing for the readers to go wow about.

Last 30 pages the paced picked up. A small twist at the end but the author didn’t fully flesh it out. I wish they would have. It took me awhile to get through because of the pace.

The plot was good but the writing style made my head hurt! I think that if the chapters were named and present tense vs past tense were identified it would have been an easier read to digest. The plot of it all was good! I thought it was messed up how Vanessa set up Emma to be with her abusive husband but Emma had her own plan but was saved lol! This book reminded me of The Ex by Frieda McFadden

I did enjoy the ending, it’s like a full circle. But it’s pretty much the only thing I liked, It did not get good until probably the last couple chapters. And there are couple places, the book built up significant suspense, but ultimately, nothing big really happened, so disappointing.
