i love tom allen SO MUCH. his writing is lyrical and his own voice, but i couldn't believe No Shame was about his own life. it felt so separated from how he presents himself onscreen. it was touching that he chose to share more of himself with readers - for this, four stars for you sir!

I really loved this book. I found it a really nice examination of exactly what it says: queer life in suburbia. Processing it and dealing with it, and forging your own path.
I'd say the ending maybe sort of failed to provide a real "conclusion" to the narrative, but I guess that is simply a facet of a memoir, that life isn't always wrapped up nicely and neatly.
