I don't think there will ever be a retelling of Medusa's story that is particularly good, but this was something. Medusa's parts are written well in the start, then when Perseus comes in it begins to lack a little. The last 20 odd pages saved it for sure.

I judge all Greek mythology adaptations by Mary Renault and very few measure up. This was an okay read. I'm actually giving it 3 1/2 stars. The last 20 pages earned it an extra half a star.

I would’ve liked it better if it was entirely about Medusa and not so much about Perseus. It felt in opposition to the overall message of the book. But overall, I liked it.
