New characters I didn't care for and they don't really appear after this book.

So the Odyssey of the Amazons is what I've now gathered to be a reimagining of the Amazons' origin story. I say reimagining as I've seen a few reviews saying that the story has been completely changed. I guess I'd be a little annoyed too if I was entirely familiar with the original origins. Alas, I am not and I've got to say I wasn't expecting to love this as much as I did, even though it felt like a full on novel with how long it took me to get through.
I adored so many of the characters and got easily attached, so when people died it really affected me! I loved all the strong female characters and that it was led by a black female! That made me so happy. On top of that it was full of ethic diversity, as the main plot development was finding true Amazons' across the world and from there, the plot thickened and a blend of Greek and Norse mythology came into play. I think that was one of my favourite themes out of the whole story. It was handled so well.

Overall, a unique read. I loved the fresh take on the Amazons' tale and enjoyed the very slight hint to Wonderwoman and all the things she will (already has) do(ne).

Pick it up, give it a go and enjoy! >(^_^)<
