Unfortunately there was only one poem in here that I liked. I couldn’t seem to understand what the collection was getting at. It didn’t help with the uneven horrible formatting (on the kindle edition at least). I’m sure this means something to someone but it doesn’t mean anything to me.

With two sections of breathtaking beauty and intensity, and an unfortunate dip in the middle, all in all this collection was a treat. It held a shared sentiment with Richard Siken's "Crush" but with a fresh voice completely of its own. Thoroughly enjoyable. Four hearty stars.

As Gabrielle said: "My uneducated opinion is that Jericho Brown is one of the best poets of any time period, any language, dead or alive." Can't say it any better than that.

I'm not going to try reviewing this collection. I already find it hard to review most poetry I read. When it's a 5 star rating, just know that I feel it deserves it and the experience of reading the book is a much better use of your time than any review I could write.

I really enjoyed this book of poems from Brown. I enjoyed her first book [b:Please|4498962|Please|Jericho Brown|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1348248625s/4498962.jpg|4547940], as well. The two are great, and different, and worth owning.
