I truly enjoyed this book.
She gave voice to a lot of thoughts and feelings that I have but never knew were popular and she gave references to other books that I will definitely look into reading.
A great read for modern day Christians

I liked this book. It’s well written and is on brand with what most of us have come to know and love about the author. This book is an original, I can’t say that I have read anything like it.
Now read this book for what it is. Candice does a good job in categorizing herself. While I avoid labeling authors that deal and wrestle with difficult topics—it may be helpful to categorize this book as a social critique on church politics. It is not fair to read this book as a traditional theological work because it’s not. That’s okay. Her presentation is clear and her stance on how she got to where she is now is quite firm and honest. Again, take it for what it is and don’t critique this book for being something that it’s not. This is her journey and I’m thankful to her for sharing it. At the very least this book gives me the language to have better conversations, compassion and to love better and more intentionally both in and outside the church walls.

As a fan of Candice on social media, back to the Lemonade syllabus days, I was excited to read this. I put it down and picked it back up a few times, but think she has a very modern and well-informed take on Christianity as it pertains to black women.
