so good, i will definitely be reading the next in the series, it is so well written and while has inspiration from other books u can’t tell unless u really look and it is on its own a completely unique concept and outcome. i really enjoyed reading this and the characters had a good amount of depth

this was my most anticipated release of 2022 and now that i finally read it i can confirm that i am OBSESSED

I'm not sure if I liked this book. It was a fun read in the moment, but the main character was a little dramatic and there was a general vibe of "oh no, look at the poor little girl who's being pushed around by powerful men."

Pretty basic, not much too it. I found the twists quite predictable but the pacing was well done - I didn't feel like anything dragged

I cannot for the life of me picture what the Aurora or their Fae magic might look like. That felt corny. I also really wish the monsters had some descriptors as to what they looked like - badass names but not one thing about them besides what they are called???

This book will sit amongst my top 3 favourite reads of the year! From the very first chapter, I was hooked.

Lor is kidnapped from her bleak life in prison and is forced into the spotlight to compete in a series of trails to win the title of Sun Queen. The trials are absolutely ruthless and the odds are greatly staked against Lor, but her ingenuity and wit guide her through each adversity (much to the distaste of the public and other competitors).
I was deeply attached to Lor - her wit and perseverance through this book had me sitting on the edge of my chair rooting for her!

I am eager to read the second book, Rule of the Aurora King, ASAP!

Key Themes: Fantasy, Romance (with some spice!), Fae Politics, Morally Grey Characters, Action and Violence

i couldn’t get through being annoyed by the primary narrator to understand or care about the stakes/potential of this book!
