This was a ton of fun. I can see why some people say it’s replacing their ACoTaR rec, but at the same time it is completely it’s own story. It’s interesting that despite certain narrative beats concluding, absolutely nothing feels resolved. If the second book hadn’t just come out, I don’t actually know what I’d do with myself. On another weird note, but not in a bad way, it feels like there was also no character development over the course of the novel. Even if their true faces aren’t shown immediately, no none seems to have grown or changed over the course of what they’ve experienced or endured, which is a unique choice to make. Great representation and a unique world with interesting divisions of and requirements of power. I have a few guesses as to a couple of the “mysteries” that have been hinted at, but absolutely nothing is confirmed. And the idea that anything can still happen is wonderfully exciting.

literally only 5 stars bc it’s just the selection but adult
I had a bit higher hopes for this by the way it was recommended. It was still good, just knocked off a star star because it was more predictable than I'd like and the FMC gave me trailor park vibes. I'll give the next book a shot. 🌶 is descriptive, but only 1 scene in this book. Does have bad language.

I saw this series everywhere for a while so I gave the audiobook a go. It was kind of predictable and it felt like a waste of potential in a way. I would listen to the rest if it were free but it's not. 🤷🏻♀️😂
