This started off as a bumpy ride for me - I had guessed that the protagonist was meant to be annoying in some ways and that I should find it humorous, but it took me a while to get there. But my esteem only rose and rose until I loved it in the end. It got ever stranger while remaining nostalgic and made me love characters I wouldn't have thought I would.

I didn’t really vibe with this one for the first 3/4 of the book but continued because it’s a book club pick - I did really enjoy that final quarter while still mostly disliking the main character. Also the narrator for the audio book did a great job.
