Loved how it picks up were the trilogy left and adds to the story of Diana and Mathew connecting what is happening to them with Marcus' past and the intricacy and delicacy of the vampire turning.
Couldn't put it down. I have to declare myself a Harkness fan, through and through. Also recommend the playlist that accompanies the book that can be found on Deborah's page.

Book four in the All Souls series follows Marcus and Phoebe as Phoebe takes on her journey of becoming a vampire and Diana learns more about Marcus. Watching Phoebe’s step by step progress, the way she had to learn how to walk, write, stand, all over again was fascinating. Seeing it parallel with Marcus’s journey during the American Revolution was very well done.
Reasons I Recommend:
1) We were able to meet more of the mysterious de Clermont family
2) Diana and Matthew definitely have their hands full with Becca and Philip and
3) The way it all came full circle.

The only reason this book gets 3 stars is because I like Harkness’s writing style and I was already deeply invested in this series. Literally nothing happens. Ever. It’s all backstory and ennui. Do not spend money on this book. Borrow it from the library if you need to revisit some old friends, but be warned... they aren’t the same as you remember. We’ve all settled down and are boring. Diana and Matthew are too, it appears.

definitely not my favorite book in the series. it was interesting but nothing really happened, it was mostly just back story.
I enjoyed this one the least of the series so far. But I did like getting to know more about Marcus' backstory and Pheobe's transformation.

Wanted to love this but it was sort of a revolutionary war novel with some vampire stuff bolted on. Didn’t have the charm of the first books in this series. Sorry to report this because I really enjoyed the first ones.
