Stronger novel than the first, much more engaging.
Would definitely send my hypothetical daughters to spy school.

Generally less happens in this one (which is saying something compared to the first) but we do get the spy boys introduced and that’s all that matters. Ily my baby Zach❤️

I liked this one better than the first. I'm on team Zack right now. Josh is nice and all, but Zack is more on Cammie's level.

Opinion redeemed! If I were the author I would call the first book a prequel, because I feel like the rest of the series is SO MUCH BETTER!!!!!! I didn't love Josh. I absolutely love Zach. And I applaud the author, she''s included just enough bad boy vibes to make him appealing without making him a bad person. Cammie's a darling, and her friends are amazing! If there's ever a movie (or better, tv show) I'll be first in line to watch it. To be honest, I was a little unsure about how it was going to work incorporating Blackthorne into the school, but Ally Carter handled it well.
This was an okay book over all, but I took off two stars for a reason.
I cannot stand Ally Carter's writing style!
I get that Cammie's a teenage girl and all, but not all of us talk like she does. Ally Carter could've added at least a little bit more maturity in the way she wrote.
Miss Carter, you DO NOT need to put 5 exclamation marks at the end of a sentence in order to establish the enthusiasm.
Not only that, but the way all the girls act in this so called school for "Exceptional Young Women" is so. freaking. annoying.
The word sexy is used multiple times, and girls are constantly trying to impress their teacher, as well as other boys, by using push up bras and other things. Honestly, I would never try to impress my teacher, no matter how hot he is. That actually kind of disgusts me. The youngest teacher I have, as cute as he may be, is 12 years older than the average sophomore, and for me, that's way too old.
The girls at this school are just way too worried about their looks and boys, even though they're supposed to be awesome fighters/hackers/all around SPIES.
I also feel like the characters in this book, especially Zach, are only there to replace the former story of Josh and Dee Dee and the rest of the normal kids. Zach is such a gary-stu, and as much as Cammie dislikes him, you can tell they're gonna get together. It's predictable.
So, yeah. I didn't like it that much.

The plot thickens, and I'm in for the long haul. Already started the third one.
