I thoroughly enjoyed this book but I really think that the author could have made the color of Jax’s eyes a little more clear to the reader. I have eye strain from rolling them each time I read “dual-colored eyes” or “strangely colored eyes” or any other variation that tells us that his eyes are made up of two colors. She never refers to just his eyes. Every single time she mentions that his eyes are dual-colored.

It is the middle ages

I did read a ton reviews condemning the author for the hero daring to be a war-thirsty man. That was quite the point, I thought. Women and children were slaughtered. That it is distasteful does not mean it did not happen. Overall, a good book. I am not dying to know what happens next, but it was well written and amusing.

It was pretty good but I was ready to tear my hair out at the end of the book for the sheer number of times the phrase "dual colored eyes" or "dual colored orbs" was used. I get it. He has two different colored eyes. I don't need to be reminded every time he uses them.

Really dark, and you definitely have to keep in mind that people had a very different mindset about the roles of men/women in medieval times.
