FINALLY finished it. I think this is an incredible translation of The Odyssey. I’m no expert, but I do think that being harshly pedantic about translations of these epic poems that came out of oral traditions is stupid! And a waste of time! We’ve never actually seen the original and we never will! I don’t see the point in being patronizing over something that has existed in maybe thousands of different versions, each one as valid as the next, because that is the spirit of oral storytelling. And this one captures that spirit and the story, characters, and meaning beautifully.
