3 stars for The Odyssey itself, 5 stars for this absolutely amazing translation. The introduction from Emily Wilson is worth the price of admission alone. I could read another 300 pages of her analysis and thoughtful considerations. The translation is clear, modern without being overly colloquial, with wonderful rhythm and word choice. 

I’m happy to have finally read this epic. Odysseus is an ass. Circe was done dirty. Penelope is great.

Don’t get me wrong. I love love love mythology, especially Greek mythology. But this is not what I thought it would be. However, the translator, Emily Wilson, did an amazing job! I have so much respect for her (she was the first woman to translate “The Odyssey”)!
