Beautiful and evocative writing. I’m always so impressed when authors can put words together in a way that really makes you feel each moment so strongly.
I found myself somewhat confused with the non-linear, non-traditional style, and lack of a straightforward narrative. But this book wasn’t written for me. It felt important that the author tell her story in the way she wanted to. The raw emotion, pain, and vulnerability she shared was astounding and I felt honored to be allowed a glimpse into her world.

A short and spare read... this isn't the book for you if you're looking for a traditional narrative with events more or less in chronological order. Mailhot's writing is more poetic, with little nuggets to be savored as she uncovers raw truths about her life.
