Immersed myself in this book from start to finish in between my classes today and wowowowow. Read this book (if you’d like to). Be somewhat cautious going into it, but read it (again, if you’d like to). It feels like such an important read, filled with truth and perspective. I’m not going to say much else because I’m still processing it but wow. This is one of those books that so wholly deserves to be the best seller that it is

TW: eating disorders, self-harm, psych wards, generational trauma, mentions of abuse, sexual assault

I wasn't crazy about this one. The writing style was unique and I appreciate that part even if I didn't care for it. I'm also not a fan of second person narration and this was a lot of that. So much pain and trauma and suffering in this. I'm glad it was short.

Heart Berries is a raw, intimate, and creative memoir. It doesn’t shy away from trauma; there are TWs for self-harm, suicidal thoughts, abortion, sexual violence, alcoholism, and more. The author also doesn’t shy away from talking about her identity as an indigenous woman, motherhood, mental health issues, and other deeply personal aspects of her life. She uses an unconventional style throughout the book that wouldn’t work for hardly anyone else but soars in her hands.

I’d recommend this to folks that like stream-of-consciousness and creative memoirs.
