I will refrain from rating this book, as a diary it's just too personal to be rated.
I have experienced different emotions reading this book. At the very beginning it was difficult to read it without crying as I knew how the story ended. Then when I finally managed to forget and concentrated on Anne's careless life as a teenage girl, it came almost as a shock when they were forced into hiding and had to leave everything behind. The next thing that surprised me was Anne's personality. I didn't expect her to be so rebellious but also so unusually observant and mature for her age. But I have to admit there was a moment when I got bored with the book and seriously considered leaving it unfinished but I am so happy I didn't because I could experience Anne's beautiful love story. I can't stop thinking of what it was like for all of them to get discovered, arrested, sent to Auschwitz, seperated. I do hope she got on well with Margot in the last months. I do wish she had been able to fulfill her dream and become a journalist and/or writer...
Ps: I didn't appreciate the Polish translation of the book.

A chilling diary of a girl and her family who were living in hiding during World War II. Her entries were sweet and very relatable. Such a strong and unfortunate situation Anne Frank and her family and friends had to live through. Another book that I think everyone should read just once.

I thought it was great! so inspirational and you really get to look at the holocaust ina different perspective, usually you only read it as when people are in it so it was interesting to see it though the eyes of someone hiding.

This book wasn't what i was expecting. It was interesting to read the thoughts of Anne and her relationships with her family abd the other family in hiding. It was sad to read about her hopes and dreams of the future but there is a sense of peace knowing that her dream of becoming a writer came true and they she will in a way live forever through her diary.

I haven't read Anne's diary in a long time, and since I'm going to be reading Francine Prose's book Anne Frank: The Book, The Life, The Afterlife, I wanted to reread it. I read a version I can't find on GoodReads, The Diary of Anne Frank: The Definitive Edition, so I'm writing my review with this version. It's heartbreaking to know this bright, sensitive young woman didn't get to live her life because of ignorance and hatred. What might she have contributed to the world, if given a chance? I'm grateful to Miep Gies for recovering and saving her diary, and I'm grateful to her father for sharing it with the world.

So eyecatching, interesting and thought provoking, literally could not place this book down. Currently she has written the only book that I have read from cover to cover in one sitting, while in Normandy France as well!
