I have thoroughly enjoyed Fitz' journey so far. This wasn't exactly a misstep, but it thoroughly bored me at times. My typical issue with Hobb is the repeated thoughts in different contexts. The book could have been much shorter. While I did enjoy Bee's upbringing, I will say that I wasn't a big fan of her perspective throughout the book.

Overall, I think I'll need to take a break before I complete the series once and for all.

At this point what can I say about Robin Hobb that I haven't already.

THIS WAS INCREDIBLE πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ»

πŸ“– I don't want to give spoilers so all I'll say is that years have passed since we last saw the Fitz. He's now living a peaceful life, a happy one. But Fitz's violent old life erupts into the peace of his new world, and nothing and no one is safe.

This was truly a spectacular start to the final trilogy in the realm of the elderlings world. I'm both happy and sad to be here at this point. Being back with my boy Fitz is everything but this also feels like the start of goodbye. I don't think I'll ever be ready to let these characters go.

Like all of Hobbs books this is slow I am personally never bored and if you've made it this far in the series I'm assuming slow isn't something you mind.

This sets up this series so beautifully. We dive deep with Fitz as he contemplates his past and compares to the present. As his past comes back with a vengeance. We've watched Fitz grow up. I met him when he was a small children and now he's older than me. There isn't a character I knowore intimately. While he has been through so much and grown he's still the Fitz I know and love. The depth of his character is just incredible, I can't even describe it he's just so real.

And not just Fitz the characterisation for all the side characters and how individualised everyone is. It's truly something incredible!! Robin Hobbs character is unmatched.

We have some of our favourite characters we've grown to love but also new characters. One in particular I absolutely adored saying who they are would be a spoiler but this person has quickly become a new favourite!! If you haven't read this far I can't wait for you to meet them.

There are lots of moving pieces in this one. Hobbs has me so stressed and scared for all my favourite characters. There really isn't anything I could say without giving spoilers to previous books but just know this world is all coming together beautifully and I just know this series is gonna go out on a high note!!

It's just so layered, it's beautiful, stressful, devastating. It's just perfection and I can't recommend it enough.

okay. i may not have understood everything, and may have been a wee bit disappointed at the start at how slow-paced the story was and how it felt like there was stuff happening, then no pursuit of it by main characters, then stuff happening again and so on and so forthβ€”but the last 100 pages?? excuse me?? got me dead on hooked. especially the last paragraph of the last chapter. omg.

Really good book but it plods along for long periods and really doesn't become super-interesting until Bee comes along and ends up being more of a character.

The cliffhanger and final two chapters are riveting, though.

Probably going to put all my thoughts for this last trilogy in my review for "Assassins Fate" as I read all three books so fast they kind of blended together.
