A delightful adventure with strong themes of friendship and identity. Filled with absurdity and yet somehow very relatable and enjoyable nonetheless. Certainly the best book in this series so far

Koboi is such a great character and foil to both Artemis as well as the rest of the Fairy people. Her use of magic and science in combination really works well and makes her the perfect super villain for the series. That being said (so far) it's the most forgettable book. I think it's more to get things back on track after the mind wipe and to establish more rules for the magic system as well as developing Opal Koboi more as a character rather than part of the duo she was during the Arctic Incident

I wanted to love these and they were meh... I don't know if it was the narrator, the story, my frame of mind, me in general but these were not enthralling like I hoped and Carson was right. The movie and the book are like Ready Player One book vs movie. or The Shining book vs movie. They are inspired by but they are totally separate entities.
Basically Ireland is a land of magic and the Fowl family is a heist crew for magic. But Artemis and Holly are the odd couple of friends who need each other and are the last person each other need to keep life interesting and adventurous.
Were the first four the inspiration for the movie? They all got a Disney+ sticker but the others don't?

The ending of the last book was a pretty big deal. Almost a cliffhanger because even though the baddie of the book had been thwarted, there was the issue of the mind wipe. Of course, Artemis had a plan in place to help get the memories back, but that was for two years in the future!
This book starts a year after the last, meaning Artemis still knows nothing about fairies. But just because Artemis has forgotten the fairy world doesn't mean the fairy world has forgotten him. And so we have Opal Koboi, who's been in a self-induced coma and has been plotting her revenge the entire time. Not to mention a really evil scheme.
This was another great read, though a different one in many respects. Opal Koboi is very smart, and Artemis is at a serious disadvantage without his memories. It was interesting to see how Artemis would handle himself without knowing basically everything like he usually does. I also liked how his and Holly's relationship changed because of his memories.
Speaking of, Artemis himself is a different person. This book was a bit of a shift for both him and Holly. Artemis was affected by the mind wipe. Whereas Holly went through some heavy stuff. I'm really interested to see how the events of this book will change the series.
There's not much else to say. I loved Butler as usual. Foaly has grown on me a lot more too. Mulch... I like him, but I wish he was less gross. I still want a bit more from Artemis's parents. Fingers crossed for that. The audiobook performance was, again, great. And I'm hoping to jump into the next book in a week or so.
