The book didn’t really have the great of a story line. I kept waiting for something good to develop and happen and it never did. It wasn’t really my cup of tea.

I enjoyed reading this. Definitely not anything that's going to be a classic going forward, but it was very entertaining. I also feel like the characters were very well developed and it's a little scary how good the author is at writing from the perspective of a literal sociopath. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes romance novels or is looking for a good beach read.

guilty pleasure

Dramatic and surprisingly relatable; undeniably a guilty pleasure that kept me reeling, aggravated, and embarrassingly captivated with each page turn.

I did not like this book like even a little bit, which SHOCKED me because I absolutely love the series adaptation on Hulu. For starters, the book is NOTHING like the series, which already is a red flag. It is obvious that the writers had to streamline a lot of what was written in the novel for the adaptation and just make it better. Don’t get me wrong, this is a great example of a terrible, toxic, manipulative relationship. It’s a great workshop in the art of a narcissistic sociopath, HOWEVER at a certain point it got repetitive. To me, there’s a difference between having unlikeable characters for the sake of pushing the story along and then the characters just being down right unlikeable. After 200 pages, I was literally so frustrated and did not care what was happening with anyone in the book. Stephen can choke. Of course, my empathy for Lucy goes hard BUT I still did not find myself following her at all times in the narrative. Overall, good concept (as it proves in the tv series) but a severely mid read.

THIS BOOK WAS TERRIBLE!!! The only reason I finished was because I already invested to much time in it. Both characters were annoying an di couldn't root for fucking anyone in the box. poorly written , literally had no type of plot no conflict and barely any real resolution. the worst man to ever be written on god. I know we all have that one ex we cant seem to move on from but BABY GIRL I couldn't even make excuses for her anymore or feel bad.

This book was about 250 pages too long. Lucy was just overall very frustrating and Stephen is a trash human being.

DNF. Took a chance on an interesting sounding blurb/cover. Didn't work out. Just couldn't care about rich people being shady - there's enough of that going on in real life.
