Reviewing this several months after I first read it, so I don't remember details. While I didn't find this story very thrilling, I appreciated the winding tone and unique world enough to stay engaged in the book. Unfortunately I felt as if it was half-finished, and that it needed to be longer to explore the themes of the novel and answer the questions it presented to us.

Very sad book about a girl's extraterrestrial experience and journey from normal girl to creature of a folk tale. The audiobook is voiced quite well, and I shed a few tears at one point. A bit too sad for my usual taste, but I liked the main character and the setting was so interesting and unique.

This is my 4th book from Nnedi Okorafor (I read the Binti trilogy), and I loved it maybe more than the previous books from her. Fatima/Sankofa had such a challenging life, and I was so invested that I wish this was not just a novella, but a little longer. Okorafor really knows how to write a story that is engrossing and pulls you in that you want to know more. Such a quick read that for me was totally worth it. I will continue to look forward to whatever Okorafor writes!
