Love it

3.5 stars. I'm not sure why I've committed myself to reading all the sadenverse backlist because this is another 'just okay' book by Saxon James. It has probably been my favorite of the ones I've read so far though

I forgot I listened to this audiobook last year.
It was so cringey I wished I was dead so many times and by the end I dnf'd the rest of the series. Until now lol
whatever, I just remember the cringe. Griff was.... a literal manchild. I don't like him one bit :(

So hot!!!!

Contains: freshly divorced, exploring his bisexuality (first time with a man), bestfriend to lovers, not really a one-night thing.

Freshly divorced with a child in university, Griff can finally explore his bisexuality but it's not in his nature to hookup without feeling. Heath is there after the break-up to distract Griff, help him transitioning into the celibacy world of gays, what they were not prepare was for the attraction to get involve. The chemistry of these two are sooooo hot, that even the sun could burn down. All the attraction, the oh so well writing sexy scene, the romantic kisses, the newly experiment in bed, the overflow of feelings. It is sooo good.

Heath and Griff's romance was such a satisfying read, and I really loved how sweet and steamy their relationship was. I was expecting this to be the stereotypical story where one best friend had been secretly pining for the other for several long, lonely years, but that's not at all how things unfolded for Heath and Griff. Instead, their chemistry heated up organically, starting with the casual mention of how attractive they each were and spiraling into full-on fantasy, UST goodness. I bought all the way in to their budding relationship, connected hard with the characters as individuals, and got fully wrapped up in their bubble of happiness and sexual satisfaction. Griff and Heath had insanely hot chemistry, and Saxon James didn't skimp on the juicy details. As the two of them explored the new facets of their relationship, Heath and Griff also kept me captivated with the resort storyline and uncertainty about how Poppy and Felix would react to their partnership. I was firmly on team "keep Heath and Griff together no matter what", but I appreciate that the two of them took the time to weigh the potential consequences of a relationship instead of brushing everything aside for some hot nights together. All in all, I thought their story had a wonderfully sweet and satisfying ending--no loose plot threads or worries about their relationship not surviving the test of time.

I enjoyed the friends-to-lovers aspect, and it's rare for a friends-to-lovers where the characters realise their feelings together after years of friendship, instead of one or both of them secretly pining for years, so that was a nice take on the trope. Griff's relationship with his ex-wife was also really nice, I could have used a bit more time with her and his son in the story.
