It was a very good read, at least in the moment. It was very very thrilling and exciting to read, and I found myself hooked (I couldn't put it down). I had to know what happened and what was going to happen. I also liked the blending of science (however accurate) and nature into the novel, which is what originally brought me into it as a nature enthusiast. Some things make less sense the more you think about them, but that's only after the read. You've got to suspend your disbelief just a little bit.

Binged on it like I do on an above - average Crime/Thriller TV-Show on a rainy Sunday.

As a murder mystery, it was ok. It was elevated by the amount of science sprinkled in. The poor protagonist (Theo) got beat up way too many times for my taste.

Science that you can understand and is quite funny.

This is a fine book. 5 stars for plot. It kept me wondering what’s next and finishing the books. And I really like the premise and the main character. But the writing seemed super repetitive and felt sometimes like someone trying to sound smart and intuitive but not actually succeeding. Idk. I’m not literary critic. Probably wouldn’t recommend.

If anyone is caring for just an entertaining read/listen, this is quite an interesting mystery with a lots of cleverness and wits.

Decently written and interesting enough to keep me reading to the end, though often implausible... e.g. socially inept college professor is willing to forgo his job to solve mystery and is able to figure out details way ahead of law enforcement. I'd also like to think the feds would have stepped in a little sooner when the body count started rising.

And I do wish this author would learn a new way to handle gunfire in his books, other than onomatopoeia in screaming capitals with exclamation points. Having read mysteries, spy books, and thrillers for most of my life, I know it can be done.
