This was a great mystery/suspense book. Super creepy (should't have been reading it when I was home alone!) the book was fast paced and kept me wanting to read more! The plot was a tad bit unbelievable, which is why I have it four stars instead of five.

I've read these books out of order, so I’ve read about Flora in another book. This was the introduction to the character and story of Flora and it was a very compelling read.

First book of the year that I finished! Find Her was another great novel by Lisa Gardner, filled with suspense, intensity, and courage. There was also a lot of disturbing graphic events the kidnap victims had to endure. Not too much gore and trauma for me, but it definitely pushes the boundaries on that aspect. Flora Dane spent over 400 days kidnapped. She's rescued, but is never the same again. (That's not a spoiler, it's in the summary.) And that's just where the story begins. The author takes us on another thrilling ride to solve the mystery and find the victims before it's too late.

Not the most gripping of tales, but a quick read nonetheless. Lisa Gardner is always good for a gritty tale and I like Detective DD Warren's spunk.

This is a series I started YEARS ago and loved it. I read the first 7 and then….. nothing for years! Why? I’m determined to finish off this series by the end of 2022. (3 books left to go)

Just not that into it - too many good books to read to waste any more time with this one.

Things this book said too many times:

“HOW DID HE GET A PINE COFFIN BOX IN THIS ROOM WITHOUT ME HEARING?!”
“I can’t carry a firearm anymore because I was shot in the arm, woe is me.”
“I LOVED feeding foxes when I was a child, FOXES.”
“Jacob Ness had GROSS TEETH.”
“472 DAYS.”

I don’t know if it’s because I listened to the audiobook version of this novel, but I was incredibly irritated when any of these phrases came up. I understand that these things were said for dramatic effect, but there could’ve been so many other things to mention that weren’t the same few details over and over and OVER again.

Flora was without personality for much of the novel. All I knew about her was that she liked to feed foxes and she liked to beat up would-be kidnappers and attackers. I’m aware that things like this totally warp victim-survivors minds, but I just felt like this was too emotionless. I did not connect with her at all.

The story itself was interesting and I found myself wanting to hear what would happen next. The pace was exciting and it never dragged. I mostly listen to stories like this in the car because music and podcasts can be boring after a while. If I was getting bored, I turned this on and I was usually entertained. If you like crime stories, you’d probably enjoy this.
