I preferred Perrault's version, though it must be said, Perrault's is far more terrifying in the moral than the Brother's Grimm in my opinion, even just with the implication of the wolf's instructions to Red.

The illustrations and silhouettes of this book are obviously what set the book apart from all other adaptions. Each page is crafted to flow into the next scene. The only thing i'd say about the book is that you've got to be careful giving this book to a child. At the library I work at we shelve this in the kids section but I would fear for the destruction of the pages if you're not careful with them. Some of the pages have very large shapes cut out, leaving not much material of the page. That aside, it's quite a beautiful book and even if you've read the tale a thousand times you don't want to miss flipping through this one, if only to marvel at the illustrations.

Beautiful illustrations, but Red Riding Hood is a weird story.
