Bo-ring! Un-inspiring! This book just had no heart. I didn't really feel anything for any of the characters (except maybe Adam, the heroine's brother, and the Vivi, the daughter). Other than annoyance. The storyline, the flashbacks, the characters, even the conversations, felt under-developed, like even the author didn't really care and couldn't muster up enough interest to give it any effort. I just couldn't bring myself to finish it. Very disappointing.

Now I have no particular interest in reading about the other band members (both of whom just felt like assholes to me in this). Which is a shame, because I've never read anything from the other two authors and I thought this would be a good opportunity to give them a try. Maybe I'll attempt it again in the future.

I knew going in that this book was going to be a second chance romance with a hidden pregnancy. I didn't know that I was going to get the dynamic that I actually got between these two characters. They slept together 5 years ago because he never overtly came on to her (even though he really really wanted to in his head), so she felt like he was a safe choice to sleep with because she was raped before. I just was too uncomfortable with the way that this played out that I couldn't continue.

This wasn't my favorite Sarina Bowen read, but it still hit the spot regardless. At first I thought I might not like it because I don't like it when a heroine keeps the baby for its father on purpose in a romance novel. However, I bought her reasons for being reluctant to reach out and the hero wasn't afraid to call her out on it when he found out. I'll also give her a pass for being pretty young and naive.

Jonas was immature and stupid and even though he acknowledged that, I thought he needed to work harder than he did to earn Kira's affection. I liked how Bowen depicted the "secret child" trope better in "Bountiful." I was also disappointed that the ex-bf Luke disappeared and didn't try to show up again after the confrontation with Jonas. Seemed like a plotline was being set up and then was abruptly abandoned. Adam and Ethan were adorable both together and individually.

That said, this was still enjoyable and satisfying to read. Sometimes a girl is just in the mood to read about a hot rock star who falls for a small town girl.
